When You Should Avoid Going Through Your Insurance for Car Repair

It’s nerve-wracking to get into an accident, and when it’s a small “fender bender,” your [...]

Frequently Asks Questions

No. In the state of Utah, you have the legal right to choose any collision repair facility. While insurance companies have “preferred” shops, we work with all major insurance providers and will negotiate directly with them to ensure your vehicle is restored to factory standards, not just the “cheapest” possible fix.

Absolutely! While you will need to file the initial claim with your insurance company or the responsible party, we handle everything else. Once your claim is filed, we act as your advocate. Our team handles the ongoing communication, sends the necessary documentation and photos to your adjuster, and manages any “supplementals” (additional damage found after the car is disassembled) so you can avoid the headache of paperwork.

Modern vehicles are “computers on wheels” with complex safety sensors (ADAS). Gold Class is the highest level of training in the industry. It means our technicians are experts in the specific welding, frame alignment, and sensor calibration required to ensure your car’s safety features work perfectly in a future accident.

We use computerized paint-matching technology that pulls your vehicle’s specific factory color code. We then “blend” the paint into adjacent panels to ensure the repair is as invisible as possible, even in direct Utah sunlight. Many factors influence the final result, however. For example, if your current paint is faded, it may be impossible for our technicians to perfectly match new paint with old. Therefore, like any experienced body shop, we can’t guarantee an invisible repair for every customer.

Every repair is unique, therefore we cannot guarantee a definite timeline. A bumper repair might take 2–3 days, while major structural work could take 2 weeks or more. Once we disassemble the vehicle and get insurance approval, we provide a “Target Drop Date.” You can even track your vehicle’s progress in real-time through our repair status tool.

Yes. If you have rental coverage on your policy, we can coordinate with local rental agencies (like Enterprise or Hertz) to have a car waiting for you when you drop off your vehicle. If you’re paying out of pocket, we can often help secure a discounted “shop rate” for you.

Not necessarily. We offer Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) for door dings and hail damage. This is faster and more affordable because it preserves your factory paint.

Yes. We use high-quality primers and sealants specifically designed to resist the corrosive effects of Utah’s winter road salt and extreme temperature swings, ensuring your repair doesn’t rust or peel years down the road.

You pay your deductible directly to us (the repair shop) when you come to pick up your completed vehicle. We accept all major credit cards, checks, and insurance checks. If you are not at fault, we can often work with the other party’s insurance so you don’t have to pay a deductible at all.

This is very common. It’s a security measure by the insurance company. You’ll simply need to endorse (sign) the back of the check when you pick up your car, and we will handle the rest.

Insurance companies often try to save money by suggesting non-original parts. However, as an I-CAR Gold Class shop, we prioritize your car’s safety and resale value. We always advocate for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts. If your policy has specific limitations, we will discuss the options with you clearly before any part is put on your car.

If we replace a part that wears out over time (like a tire or a battery) with a brand-new one, the insurance company may ask you to pay a small percentage of that part’s cost because your car is now in “better” condition than before the accident. We will always alert you to these charges before proceeding.

Insurance adjusters often write estimates based only on what they can see from the outside (or from photos). Once we get the car into the shop and remove the damaged panels, we often find “hidden damage” underneath. We then file a Supplemental Claim with your insurance to cover those extra costs so you aren’t left with an unsafe repair or an unexpected bill.

No. In Utah, you are not legally required to “shop around” for the lowest bid. Most insurance companies will accept our expert estimate because we use the same industry-standard software they do. Getting multiple estimates usually just delays your repair.

Even after a perfect repair, a car with an accident history can be worth less than one without. If the accident wasn’t your fault, you may be entitled to a “Diminished Value” claim from the other person’s insurance. While we don’t file this for you, we provide the high-quality documentation and repair records you’ll need to prove your case to your agent.
